Neenah Papers - 9/2/2010
CLASSIC COLUMNS Papers Are Now Entirely FSC Certified Neenah Paper Continues to
Grow Its FSC Certified Offering
Neenah Paper is pleased to add another one of its premium brands to its FSC Certified papers portfolio. The complete selection of CLASSIC
COLUMNS® Papers, in all colors and finishes, are now FSC Certified. This is a brand known for its bold colors and unique textures: the traditional
soft, watermarked linear finish and the embossed XL patterned with wider, more defined lines. It is an extraordinary communication medium that
provides both visual and tactile appeal.
FSC Certified Papers ensures that papers meet the Forest Stewardship Council’s (FSC) standards for responsible forest management and
responsible use of forest resources. Along with being completely FSC Certified, CLASSIC COLUMNS Writing, Text, and Cover are made Carbon
Neutral Plus*, with CO2 emissions offset through retirement of CCX Carbon Financial Instruments and sequestration from Neenah’s rainforest
reforestation project in Costa Rica. The color palette consists of 19 colors and 12 appealing duplex color combinations. The selection includes 13
recycled options that are Green Seal™ Certified, manufactured with a minimum of 30 percent post consumer fiber, two of which are 100 percent
post consumer fiber. All Neenah Paper Writing and Text weights are laser and inkjet guaranteed, and several colors are available with the
Neenah Digital universal digital finish in digital sizes.
“CLASSIC COLUMNS has long been a favorite for both designers and printers, it can elevate the simplest design,” says Kathy Kemps, brand
manager for Neenah Paper. “Now that all items are FSC certified, we’re giving our customers both a beautiful and responsible choice.”

Neenah Paper Offers ‘Eco-Trip for Two’ Environmental Adventure
Life is full of choices when it comes to protecting the environment. You can take small steps from the comfort
of your own home or office (always a good thing!), or you can go “hard core” and experience conservation in the
heart of some of nature’s most fragile environments. In celebration of its ENVIRONMENT® Papers line,
Neenah Paper has launched an “Eco-Trip for Two” sweepstakes in which one lucky winner will have the
opportunity to help make the world a better place through an environmental adventure to the Osa Peninsula
in Costa Rica.
The Neenah “Eco-Trip for Two” sweepstakes runs from July 30 to September 30, 2010. During that time,
designers, printers, and anyone with a passion for the environment can enter to win by registering at
neenahpaper.com/environmentcontest. One winner will be randomly selected from all entries to receive the
all-expenses-paid* grand prize trip for two which includes airfare, ground transportation, six days and five
nights of accommodations at an ecologically friendly resort as well as a guided day-trip to the Neenah
Reforestation Project, a project in partnership with the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin and
Friends of the Osa. Neenah will offset the carbon footprint for the winner’s entire trip with carbon credits.
In addition to the grand prize, Neenah will award three $100 gift certificates (to REI, Keen Footwear and
Patagonia) as secondary prizes. To be eligible for the gift certificates, participants can visit neenahpaper.
com/environmentcontest and answer five easy questions designed to test their environmental awareness.
It doesn’t matter whether they’re an environmental expert or need a “green” primer, all completed quizzes
qualify to win.
Says Kristen Hogan, senior brand manager for Neenah Paper, “While the eco-trip will give two people the
chance of a lifetime to experience the reforestation project first-hand, the broader message is that even a
simple act like purchasing environmentally conscious paper can set off a chain of events that ultimately leads
to the protection and conservation of the world’s natural resources.”
Inspired by a Partnership to Preserve
The trip to the Osa Peninsula was inspired by Neenah’s support of the region. In 2009, Neenah Paper,
with mills, finishing and distribution in Wisconsin, partnered with the Natural Resources Foundation of
Wisconsin and Friends of the Osa to help reforest this conservation property in Costa Rica. One of the most
biologically diverse regions in the world, the Osa Peninsula is widely acknowledged as a global conservation
priority by organizations such as the Nature Conservancy and Conservation International. In addition, this
forest provides a critical habitat for 54 species of Wisconsin’s migratory birds that winter in the Osa Peninsula.
Eighteen of those species are conservation priorities, three are threatened and one is endangered.
With Neenah’s support and contributions, the reforestation project is creating a new habitat for endangered
wildlife, protecting and restoring viable plant and animal habitats, removing carbon from the atmosphere, and
restoring land degraded by deforestation.
“The Osa Peninsula is important for Wisconsin’s birds, but it’s also a global conservation priority because,
among other things, it is home to the largest remaining mangrove forest in Central America,” notes Adrian
Forsyth, acclaimed conservationist and president and founder of Friends of the Osa. “We’re grateful for
the support of Neenah Paper and the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin because north-south
partnerships such as these help make long-term conservation possible.”
In addition to its partnership on the Osa Peninsula Reforestation project, Neenah - through its Neenah Green
platform - makes its own “hard core” choices in an effort to preserve the planet’s natural resources. For example:
· All scrap and waste paper generated in the making of Neenah paper brands is recycled or used in a
waste-to-energy program;
· Neenah’s Appleton, Wis., paper mill generates up to 33 percent of its electrical needs from on-site,
non-polluting hydro power;
· Neenah buys wind-generated electricity for all of its fine paper mills;
· And, ENVIRONMENT® Paper is made with 100 percent renewable electricity.
“Our goal is to make hard choices that err on the side of the environment, even when it might cost a little more
or we have to rethink the way we do things,” explains Hogan. “While the Eco-Trip for Two sweepstakes will
be an enjoyable way for people to think a little more about the environment, we want people to turn that thought
into action and join us in making a difference.”

Neenah's Think Ink App Goes Green
The Apple App Store just got greener with the introduction of Neenah Paper’s (NYSE: NP) updated Think
Ink: Color Unleashed™ iPhone/iPod Touch application, which now includes ENVIRONMENT® Papers, a
leading green alternative to today’s eco-minded business thinkers, entrepreneurs and institutional leaders.
ENVIRONMENT® Papers from Neenah is a sustainable, post consumer recycled paper line that is entirely
FSC Certified, Green Seal Certified, Carbon Neutral Plus and made with 100 percent renewable green
energy. By incorporating these papers into Neenah’s proprietary Think Ink color selection app, designers
and end users have a tool that not only allows them to communicate better, but now greener.
“Adding ENVIRONMENT® Papers to our Think Ink application is a natural step. It is another addition to our
leading edge suite of mobile communications too. With Think Ink you can create color palettes and order
coordinating samples on the go. Then, by pulling up our Eco-Calculator app you can determine the exact
amounts—wood, water, BTUs and so forth—when printing with post consumer fiber, ” says Tom Wright,
director of design for Neenah Paper. “At Neenah, we think that technology and paper enhance each
other. Using these apps to make informed paper choices is a great example of this philosophy.”
The Think Ink: Color Unleashed iPhone and iPod Touch application is the only app available that allows
designers to pull inspiration from a number of resources to build their own custom color palettes using the
Dewey Color System®. At its original launch, there were more than 61 million viewing opportunities worldwide.
Here’s how it all works: designers begin with one of four approaches—a photo taken on the iPhone’s built-in
camera, a product from Neenah Paper, a self created color swatch, or the psychology of color with the
Dewey Color System. After they select their initial color inspiration, Think Ink gives them four tangible
palettes labeled as subdued, pop, traditional and blended.
From there, designers simply place their palette on a variety of Neenah papers to see which works best for
their selection. From their iPhone, they can save and e-mail their custom color palette to friends, clients or
vendors, order coordinating paper samples of the newly added ENVIRONMENT® Papers family or CLASSIC
CREST® and CLASSIC® Linen Writing, Text or Cover papers, and see the palette in different proportions and
type samples. In addition, they can explore statistically validated psychological meanings of color
combinations that provide another tool in helping to connect their message with their audience.
For more information on the Think Ink application, visit www.neenahpaper.com/THINKINK/ or download the
application from the Apple iPhone app store. Designers and printers can also use Neenah’s enhanced version
of Think Ink: Color Unleashed microsite at ColorUnleashed.com, which has all the color and paper references
right at one’s desk top.

Neenah Paper Introduces Single-Ply 18pt. Board
A Greener 100 Post Consumer Premium Packaging Solution
Neenah Paper continues to bring innovative solutions to meet your paper needs, including specialty packaging
papers. The most recent addition to Neenah’s offering of premium packaging papers is the single-ply
ENVIRONMENT® Folding Board 100 PC 18pt. (125lb. cover). One reason this type of solid board is a
preferred product for the conversion of folding cartons is because it offers greater dimensional stability,
enabling the product to flow through scoring, folding and assembly processes more efficiently, while providing
a perfect surface for printing, embossing, foil stamping, die cutting and gluing. This product is a great green
choice for premium packaging such as folding boxes for the health, cosmetic and fragrance markets.
Many businesses have a desire to become greener in their packaging, but until now, options with high levels
of post consumer content were limited. New ENVIRONMENT® Folding Board consists of 100 percent post
consumer fiber content, and is FSC Certified, Green Seal certified, made with 100 percent renewable energy
and made Carbon Neutral Plus. This high performance smooth finish paperboard with an incredible 92
brightness is the perfect solution for greener premium packaging.

Neenah Paper Makes The Prestige of a Watermark Available for
Smaller Businesses CUSTOMARK Papers Require Lower Minimums
Neenah Paper (NYSE: NP) offers its customers the opportunity to have a custom private watermark
embedded in their business or personal stationery, no matter the size of the company. What was previously
available only to large volume customers by way of a genuine watermark is now an option for smaller companies,
using the CUSTOMARK® Papers process.
There are many reasons why the addition of a private watermark to a company’s stationery has remained
popular, not the least of which is the way it elevates a brand identity. Though understated, it makes an
impression, communicating professionalism and attention to detail. It lends an air of importance to a written
communication.
However, one of the benefits of a private watermark that is even more relevant today is the added protection.
Genuine watermarks are permanent, unalterable, and cannot be scanned or copied, so using watermarked
paper for important documents helps defend against many types of document fraud and theft.
Because genuine watermarks are made during the papermaking process, the minimum amount of paper
required for ordering a custom watermark has always been high, accessible only to large professional firms,
universities, financial institutions and corporations. But Neenah has an alternative, with minimum requirements
as low as 100 lbs. (just two cartons of paper), making it possible for smaller companies, organizations, and
even individuals to realize the branding and security benefits of the time honored watermark. In the
CUSTOMARK Paper process, a gravure plate uses a non-alterable solution to transfer the logo, signature
mark, or specified image onto the finished paper. And because the image is made with a plate rather than a
dandy roll, it can feature a wider variety of shapes, lines, and solid fields. Not only can it be produced in
smaller quantities, but it also offers faster turnaround times.
CUSTOMARK Papers are available in five of Neenah’s top-selling premium brands.

Like all Neenah Digital Papers, both weights are HP Indigo Certified, ensuring that the paper meets the

New Ample Sample Promotion Showcases Pocket Folders Real
Commercial Samples That Inspire
Neenah Paper (NYSE: NP) has just released another in its popular Ample Sample series, this one a collection
of commercial reprints of pocket folders. The samples give designers and printers a chance to see real world
examples of some of the unique ways Neenah’s premium papers are used.
The carrier folder itself, printed on a rich OXFORD® Duplex Cover, is a tactile exploration using embossing,
foil stamping, die cuts and sewing, a stunning example of how color and texture can make a folder special.
It holds six folders from different types of businesses. They range in complexity, the simplest folder printing in
just one color. This folder clearly demonstrates how using a unique paper—ESSE® Cover Pearlized Cocoa—can
add so much to a simple design.
Texture and color, the stars of this promotion, both play an important part in some of the folders. One example
is the crafted finish of CLASSIC® Laid as the backdrop for a photograph of burlap on one folder cover. Or
SUNDANCE® Felt finish to convey the tactile luxury of wool for the Aspen Brand Clothing media kit. In this
case, color was a consideration as well. The Harvest Yellow paper adds warmth to the four-color image. And
speaking of color, the refined look of embossing and a rich brown ink on a real estate folder constructed of
CLASSIC CREST® Paper in Celery make this folder memorable and impressive.
“This collection of folders serves as an effective model to demonstrate techniques, printing and craftsmanship,
while communicating the value of using Neenah’s selection of cover weights,” says Kristin Carpenter,
advertising and design manager for Neenah Paper. “The paper chosen for a presentation or pocket folder is
as important as what’s on the inside. Our brands of papers, offering a wide selection of textures and colors,
can make your message more beautiful and more noticeable as the paper essentially becomes part of the
design itself.”

About FSC
FSC is an international, independent organization that assures environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial
and economically viable forest management through independent third-party certification and labeling of
wood, paper and other forest products. It was founded in response to public concern about deforestation
and demand for a trustworthy wood-labeling system. FSC’s on-product labeling allows businesses and
consumers to choose products from well-managed forests – those that are managed to meet the social,
economic and ecological needs of present and future generations. FSC is also the only forest certification
organization endorsed by such major environmental organizations as the World Wildlife Fund, National
Wildlife Federation and Greenpeace. There are currently more than 100 million acres of FSC-certified
forestland in the United States and Canada and more than 281 million acres in more than 82 countries. More

that bridges the screen and the printed page. Designers can build color palettes with features no other site
offers. With the ColorUnleashed.com site, users can:
? Create custom color palettes based on three different options: RGB and CMYK values; Neenah’s paper
colors; or the Dewey Color System®, the world’s only scientifically-validated color-based personality testing
system.
? Create and view color palettes of RGB and CMYK values right on the screen and then with one click
download the palette as an Adobe® Swatch Exchange (.ASE) file and embed it into Adobe® Creative Suite®.
This key element saves users from having to hand-enter information and instead populates a library of color
swatches and Neenah Paper colors into a designer’s personal Creative Suite automatically and saves it for
future use.
? Select from more than 30 Dewey scientifically validated personality attributes from a word cloud and build
custom palettes.
? Order sample sheets. Designers can link directly to their Neenah Paper accounts making it easy to order
samples with just a few mouse clicks. And for a limited time, Neenah is offering free sample shipping through
the site.
? Import their own photos or take imagery displayed from the Think Ink promotional book and play with free-form
type, change paper and ink colors to simulate real ink on paper.
? View all saved color palettes and past paper sample orders.
? With a complete line-up of Neenah paper choices added to the site, users can view their designs on
CLASSIC CREST®, CLASSIC® Linen, ENVIRONMENT® Papers, as well as on other Neenah signature
brands.
“The Think Ink microsite really takes design and inspiration to a place it hasn’t been before,” adds David
Schimmel, president and creative director of And Partners, which developed the iPhone and iPod Touch
application for Neenah. “It has incredible capabilities and gives designers another tool for creating really
great designs.”

Neenah Paper’s Think Ink App Gets An Upgrade
Who says you can’t improve on innovation? Neenah Paper has taken its groundbreaking iPhone and iPod
Touch application Think Ink: Color Unleashed™, an industry first, and added four key enhancements requested
by app users to give it even greater flexibility when building color palettes that inspire design and link to paper.
Newly released Think Ink: Color Unleashed V1.1 can be downloaded for free at http://tiny.cc/5Msq9.
“Thousands of designers have downloaded the original Neenah Think Ink V1 app, used it in the design
process, and suggested ways to enhance it even further,” said Tom Wright, director of design for Neenah
Paper. “Our goal is to create tools and technology that makes integrating paper into designer’s jobs easier,
so we’re pleased the people have taken the time to help us identify how to make this color tool and paper
app better.”
According to Wright, new features included are:
? The capability to build and edit base colors in both CMYK as well as the previous RGB color system. Designers
simply take a swatch of their inspiration color and can choose to build their palette in either CMYK or RGB.
? The ability to see each individual color’s CMYK and RGB value within the entire color palette build. And, with
the 1.1 version, the values of both color systems appear right on the user’s screen.
? A more sophisticated palette-blending function that creates color blends more closely tied to the proprietary
Dewey Color System®.
? V1’s selection of coordinating colors and now in V1.1 an enhanced selection of CLASSIC CREST® and
CLASSIC® Linen beautiful whites and off whites with every paper recommendation.
“The upgrades in Think Ink V1.1 gives designers more control and provides increased access to the
information they need,” explained David Schimmel, president and creative director of And Partners, which
developed the iPhone application for Neenah. “We’ve been able to revamp this really popular app and add
fresh features that give designers more opportunities to comfortably introduce color and paper into their projects
as well as edit, create and concept their ideas more easily.”
Neenah Paper’s iPhone and iPod Touch application is the only app available that allows designers to pull
inspiration from a number of resources to build their own custom color palettes using the Dewey Color System®.
Here’s how it works: designers begin with one of four approaches - a photo taken on the iPhone’s built-in
camera, a product from Neenah Paper, a predetermined color swatch, or the psychology of color with the
Dewey Color System. After they select their initial color inspiration, Think Ink gives them various palettes,
such as subdued, pop, traditional and blended.
From there, designers simply place their palette on a variety of Neenah papers to see which works best for
their selection. From their iPhone, they can save and e-mail their custom color palette to friends, clients or
vendors, order coordinating paper samples of CLASSIC CREST® and CLASSIC® Linen Writing, Text or
Cover papers, and see the palette in different proportions and type samples. In addition, they can explore
statistically validated psychological meanings of color combinations that provide another tool in helping to
connect their message with their audience.

Neenah Paper Offers Access to Virtual Swatchbooks
In a continuing effort to provide product information whenever and wherever needed, Neenah Paper now
offers its most popular swatchbooks in a virtual format on its Web site. The electronic swatchbooks are a
great new tool for printers, estimators, and anyone who specifies premium paper.
Because paper is such a tactile product, it might seem that the word “virtual” doesn’t make sense when
referring to paper. But sometimes, no matter how many swatchbook copies are kept in the shop or office,
they aren’t always where they’re needed. In addition, a virtual swatchbook can be just the ticket when on
the move or calling on clients, providing quick access to useful information such as paper color selections,
environmental properties, paper characteristics, and stocking charts. Currently available are some of
Neenah’s top-selling brands such as CLASSIC CREST®, CLASSIC® Linen, CLASSIC COLUMNS®,
ENVIRONMENT®, and OXFORD® Papers, with more to be added.
“A virtual swatchbook is a perfect example of how to best use technology to direct customers to the right
paper color, surface and weight,” says Tom Wright, director of design for Neenah Paper. “Today, using
web-based tools—like our Think Ink and eco calculator iPhone apps, BlackBerry downloads, and now the
iPaper swatchbooks—is part of helping customers make the right paper selections, so when they print, they
can do it well.”

Neenah Paper Announces Partnership to Help Reforest Conservation
Property
Partnership Will Help Protect and Restore Natural Habitat
Neenah Paper (NYSE: NP) today announced that it has partnered with Friends of the Osa and the Natural
Resources Foundation of Wisconsin to help reforest a conservation property in Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula,
one of the most biologically diverse regions in the world.
With Neenah’s support and contributions, the reforestation project will remove carbon from the atmosphere,
protect and restore viable plant and animal habitats, create a new habitat for endangered wildlife and restore
land degraded by deforestation.
“Partnering with Friends of the Osa and the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin is exciting because
together we will have a direct impact not only on the Costa Rican rainforest, but on some of the world’s
threatened and endangered species,” said Rodger Ferguson, director of environmental services at Neenah
Paper.
Added David Clutter, director of the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin Wisconservation Corps and
Lands Programs, “The Osa Project is another example of how government, foundations and private industry
can work together to be good stewards of the land, water and wildlife that is quickly vanishing.”
The conservation property, an extensive 1,500 acres in the southeastern portion of the Golfo Dulce Forest
Reserve, is located in Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula. It harbors the last remaining old growth rainforest on the
western flank of Central America and is one of the most biologically diverse regions in the world. Sandwiched
between encroaching development and deforested land, the Osa Peninsula is widely acknowledged as a
global conservation priority by conservation organizations such as the Nature Conservancy and Conservation
International.
“Neenah Paper has a long history of contributing to conservation projects,” explained Ferguson. “The Osa
Project was particularly appealing because it is the migratory home of 54 native Wisconsin species of birds,
18 of which are state conservation priorities and three of which are listed as threatened. Wisconsin is home to
our fine papers mills and is a large part of Neenah Paper’s heritage. It just makes sense to be one of the
founding partners in this project.”
The Osa project is not the first project that Neenah has partnered on with the Natural Resources Foundation
of Wisconsin. Its conservation initiatives include helping to fund Wisconservation Corps, a Natural Resources
Foundation of Wisconsin AmeriCorps program that helps train young conservation professionals responsible
for managing state natural areas that are home to endangered and threatened plants and animals. Neenah
also works with the Wisconservation Corps to help conserve the Chiwaukee Prairie State Natural Area, one
of the most biologically diverse prairie systems in the upper Midwest and home to more than 400 species of
plants.

partnership agreement for Neenah to manufacture, market and distribute Crane’s fine business paper
brands: CRANE’S CREST®, CRANE’S BOND®, CRANE’S LETTRA®, CRANE’S PALETTE™ and
CRANE’S® Choice Papers.
“Neenah Paper and Crane & Co. have an unwavering and shared commitment to excellence and have
formed this partnership based on manufacturing quality, market reputation and the history of two remarkable
companies,” said John P. O’Donnell, president, Neenah Fine Paper. “Together, we’ll be able to offer

“We are very pleased to embrace this opportunity with a partner who can offer Crane’s business papers

The agreement is an extension of a partnership Neenah and Crane launched in early 2007. Since then,
Neenah has manufactured 100 percent cotton paper for Crane, although the paper continued to be
marketed and distributed through Crane & Co.
“Because we’ve manufactured Crane’s business paper for over two years, we understand its longstanding
tradition of craftsmanship and quality and how well Crane’s products complement our portfolio,” O’Donnell
noted. “Meaningful brands with a recognized promise drive real value in our category and the marketplace.
This association with Crane is an illustration of how we are demonstrating our commitment to both.”
Neenah will continue to manufacture the CRANE’S CREST®, CRANE’S BOND®, CRANE’S LETTRA®,
CRANE’S PALETTE™ and CRANE’S® Choice Papers. The papers will be available to distributors through
Neenah sales representatives beginning late third quarter of 2009.

When it Comes to the Art of Linen, Seeing is Believing
Neenah Paper (NYSE: NP) wants designers to save their imagination for when they really need it.
Thanks to the company’s latest effort marrying paper and technology, designers no longer have to imagine
what their finished work might look like on the company’s CLASSIC® Linen papers line. Now they can see
for themselves just how well CLASSIC Linen Writing, Text and Cover grade papers will help visuals pop at
Neenah’s new “Do You Love Linen?” Web site, www.doyoulovelinen.com.
The new site – created to celebrate CLASSIC Linen’s updated offerings and keep the sparks flying from
the recent brand revision – makes it easier than ever for designers to “try before they buy” through the
virtual online studio.
“We encourage designers to be inspired and experiment with the colors, textures and tones showcased on
the Web site,” says Kristin Carpenter, assistant advertising and design manager at Neenah Paper. “They
can upload a design of their own or grab one from Neenah’s image library and see what a world of
difference the right paper makes. And, if they like what they see, with just a few keystrokes, their own
Neenah Personal Proof(SM) will be on its way to their office.”
With the Neenah Personal Proof, the only program of its kind offered by a paper company, designers can
order up to three free printed samples of a single design on different CLASSIC Linen papers; and multiple
visits are encouraged. Once they submit their Personal Proof order, the samples will be custom
printed and sent to them within two weeks.
“Both the Web site and the Neenah Personal Proof are revolutionary for our industry,” says Carpenter.
“We believe the ability to digitally view the color and texture of paper online and then receive a printed
sample of your personal work is really going to amaze designers.”
Innovation is nothing new for Neenah, which has made its name by creating cutting-edge applications
in user-friendly ways. Most recently, the company made news by introducing the first iPhone and iPod
Touch application that allows designers to create color palettes from the palm of their hand using the
Dewy Color System®.
“Our goal at Neenah is to continue to inspire our customers,” sums up Carpenter. “By creating tools to
make their jobs easier and providing them with premium uncoated papers that turn ordinary applications
into extraordinary projects, we want to continue to surprise and inspire them.”

Neenah Paper Expands its Color Theory Tool from iPhone App to Paper
Following the highly successful launch of the revolutionary new Think Ink: Color Unleashed™ iPhone a
pplication, Neenah Paper (NYSE: NP) has introduced the coordinating, must have print component of
its innovative design and color theory system — the Think Ink: Color Unleashed guide. This vital paper
and print reference tool for designers and printers showcases the industry’s leading CLASSIC CREST®
and CLASSIC® Linen Papers and demonstrates how these beautiful FSC-certified/Carbon Neutral papers
will print even the most creative color palettes.
Neenah Paper has partnered with Dewey Sadka, one of the country’s leading color theorists, to create a
proprietary application to let the user build custom color palettes in a whole new way. Using the scientifically
validated Dewey Color System®, Think Ink allows the user to explore the psychological meanings of color,
ink and paper combinations before even turning on the computer.
“The ability to incorporate the psychology of color is just one valuable aspect of this book,” says Tom Wright,
director of design for Neenah Paper. “The daily value is how it illustrates to designers what the same ink
colors look like on more than 50 paper colors and finishes, including digital print samples. The goal is to
help designers feel comfortable in moving the paper specification process to the front of their design process.”
Each CLASSIC CREST® and CLASSIC® Linen paper from white to light, mid-tone and deep rich dark
saturated colors are printed the same way. The darkest colors show metallic inks, foil and even embossing
to help demonstrate how these papers can add value and impact to the design.
A paper industry first, Neenah’s Think Ink guide also provides a direct digital printing comparison by including
CLASSIC CREST® and CLASSIC® Linen digital papers with their Universal Digital Print Surface. By using
the same imagery, it’s easy to compare digital to offset. These digital papers are available in three colors,
four weights and four digital sizes and optimized for use with the HP Indigo®, Xerox iGen and the Kodak
NexPress®.
Adds Wright, “We want to encourage users to unleash their desire to bring color to their next project. When
used in combination with the powerful new Think Ink iPhone and iPod Touch app, the guide presents
unlimited opportunities and provides unmatched confidence to create, explore and print with on Neenah
papers.”

Neenah Paper Adds Color to the iPhone App Store Think Ink: Color
Unleashed Launched for iPhone
Neenah Paper (NYSE: NP) today introduced the first iPhone and iPod Touch application that allows designers
to create color palettes from the palm of their hand. Think Ink: Color Unleashed was created specifically for
the iPhone to allow users to build custom color palettes using the Dewey Color System®. It can be
downloaded for free at http://tinyurl.com/oujv4o.
“We wanted to give designers and printers the ability to pull inspiration from a variety of resources, whether
it’s a vibrant green found on a blade of grass or a pale shade of yellow, and create a perfect color palette
for their project,” says Tom Wright, senior director of advertising and design for Neenah Paper. “This
application is unlike anything on the market. Users not only can translate the source of the inspiration
into an immediate color palette, but they can use the app to select a paper that best enhances the
design.”
A new hand-held tool for designers and printers, the application begins with one of four approaches: a photo
taken on the iPhone’s built-in camera, a product from Neenah Paper, a predetermined color swatch, or the
psychology of color with the Dewey Color System. After the initial color is selected, Think Ink gives users
various palettes, such as subdued, pop, traditional and blended.
From there, designers can place their palette on a variety of Neenah papers to see which works best for their
selection. They can then save and email their custom color palette, order coordinating samples of Neenah
Paper and see the palette in different proportions, all from their iPhone. In addition, they can shop for
Neenah paper and explore the psychological meanings of hundreds of color combinations with Think Ink.
“This is a smart and powerful tool,” says David Schimmel, president and creative director of And Partners
(www.andpartnersny.com), which developed the iPhone application for Neenah. “Inspiration strikes
anywhere at anytime, and with this app, designers can capture the moment of inspiration in color.
Within minutes, you can have a palette and paper for a design project or idea.”
“We’ve strived to be a critical resource for designers when searching for innovation and quality in paper,”
Wright adds. “There wasn’t an application out there that does what Think Ink does – that is, capture
inspiration for colors no matter where it strikes, and help designers translate color ideas into work. We
hope this will be a very valuable app for designers.”
The Think Ink: Color Unleashed application is the latest in a series of technology firsts for Neenah Paper.
Over the last several months, Neenah Paper has released a series of innovative BlackBerry applications
such as Paper Math which provides mobile access to Neenah Paper’s online paper calculator, the Stocking

environmental savings realized by choosing recycling papers consisting of different levels of post consumer
fiber content.

Neenah Innovation Continues with the Introduction of New Heat
Transfer Papers
New Products for Desktop Printing of Images on Active Wear
ALPHARETTA, Ga. (January 21, 2009) ľ Neenah Paper is starting 2009 with the launch of new heat transfer
papers for desktop digital printing of images for apparel made of poly, blends and other synthetic fibers.
JET-PRO® for Active Wear Heat Transfer Paper was developed for light fabrics with high levels of synthetic
fiber.
JET-PRO® for Active Wear Heat Transfer Papers are ideal for the adult and children’s athletic wear market.
The papers are ink jet printable and provide excellent color on poly, blends and other synthetic fibers. They
do not crack or form a film. They have excellent stretch and wear and long lasting wash fastness. Transfers
for synthetic fibers have typically required a high initial investment for equipment and inks. This new product
provides the same great color and long wear using standard desk top equipment.
“The interest in desk top printing of performance fabrics for active wear and the any size order solution are
frequently mentioned by customers as unmet needs,” explains Gerry Rector, associate marketing director for
Neenah Paper. “The demand for children’s and adult’s team wear is a growing area and this provides a
product for vivid graphics as well as numbers and letters.”
Neenah’s new heat transfer papers also boast an impressive environmental record. The base substrate is
CLASSIC CREST® Paper. This premium bond base paper is FSC-certified (SW-COC-000885), Green
e-certified (made with renewable energy) and manufactured Carbon Neutral, as defined by the Chicago
Climate Exchange (CCX). Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification ensures that the standards and
guidelines of certification are met from the forest to the finished product.
JET-PRO® for Active Wear as well as the other heat transfer papers from Neenah Paper meet all of the most
stringent requirements for lead and phthalates in children’s products as outlined in the Consumer Product
Safety Act of 2008 (CPSIA). This Act, which is a major overhaul of the consumer product regulation and
enforcement, requires mandatory testing and certification for specific products. Neenah Paper will provide its
customers with the necessary compliance documents for all products that are affected by these new changes.
JET-PRO® for Active Wear Heat Transfer Papers are available for immediate shipment from authorized Neenah
Paper heat transfer distributors.

ALPHARETTA, GA (December 4, 2008) — CLASSIC® Linen, one of Neenah Paper’s top-selling brands, has
just been updated with some exciting changes that offer more creative opportunities than ever to designers and
printers. Neenah Paper has taken this Writing, Text and Cover grade to a new level of modernity and sophistication
without compromising print performance, and shows it all off in a new swatchbook and a promotion titled Love Linen.
With its double-sided linen-textured embossing, CLASSIC Linen has always been a great choice for corporate
stationery and print collateral as well as direct mail, announcements and invitations. But as you will see in the
Love Linen promotion, Neenah Paper has really spiced things up. A fresh new color palette adds something
extraordinary to these types of everyday, ordinary applications. Two rich new colors—Canyon Brown and
Burgundy—add depth to the strong selection of accent colors. Like all CLASSIC Linen papers these darker
hues are highly receptive to metallic inks, embossing and foil stamping. But the real excitement is the introduction
of three new pearlescent colors: White Pearl, Natural White Pearl, and Gold Pearl.
“I think our customers will be very surprised when they see the changes we’ve made, especially the new pearl
colors. They really are versatile,” says Pamela Hill, brand manager at Neenah Paper. “This luxurious new palette
is great for applications and end uses that previously might not have been considered.”
But luxury also means having it all. As part of Neenah Paper’s ongoing environmental commitment, CLASSIC
Linen Papers are now FSC Certified and are made 100% Carbon Neutral, and the 100% post consumer Recycled
100 Bright White is now whiter and brighter. You no longer have to choose between premium quality and
sustainability.
Also, CLASSIC Linen Papers are now available with a new Digital Finish that works on all the most common
digital printing equipment. The expanded digital offering is available in three colors, four weights, and four digital
sizes. The option to specify this premium, textured paper certainly raises the bar on short run digital printing to a
new level.
One look at the new swatchbook and promotion and it’s easy to see that even through change, some things
remain the same—like the consistently high performance of CLASSIC Linen. You’ll love it!

Neenah Paper Introduces New FSC-Certified Decorative Papers
ALPHARETTA, Ga. (October 6, 2008) ľ To meet and exceed the environmental needs of its growing
number of eco-conscious customers, Neenah Paper has introduced FSC-certified decorative papers and
materials that can be used for the manufacture of box wrap, book covers and other decorative products.
“Our goal is to grow the market for sustainable materials and build our FSC-certified environmentally
preferable product offerings,” says Greg Burdick, director, Graphics & Identification SBU for Neenah Paper.
“These decorative components are our latest example. They provide a green option for printed, embossed
and decorated substrate surfaces on products such as book covers, passport covers and box wraps.”
Burdick notes that Neenah’s new FSC-Certified Decorative Papers can be used to provide book covers with
aesthetic appeal such as faux leather with embossing and foil techniques. Box wrap made with the new
materials can feature embellishments which increase the appeal and value of the box wrap.
“We believe this product offering will help the increased number of FSC-certified printers and converters who
wish to supplement their sustainable paper choices with FSC-certified decorative components,” he says.
The new products will be produced in Neenah’s Munising, Mich. mill which achieved FSC-certification in
April 2008.
“As the call for using FSC-certified products gets louder, we will continue to see more products such as
Neenah’s being developed to meet market demands,” said Keri Davis, U.S. Chain of Custody Coordinator
for SmartWood, the certification arm of the Rainforest Alliance.

Neenah Paper Turns Up the Heat With Biomass Fuel System for
Whiting Mill
Facility Will Convert Wood And Fiber Waste Into Steam Energy
ALPHARETTA, GA (August 19, 2008) — In one of its boldest green initiatives yet, Neenah Paper has
contracted to convert wood and fiber waste into steam energy to power its largest fine paper mill. The Neenah
Green: Change Comes from Within environmental campaign gave impetus to the development of broader
mill-based solutions such as this state-of-the-art facility. Located at the company’s Whiting Mill, the fossil
fuel-free steam energy system will be built by Vision Power, a Florida-based independent energy services
company, and is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2009.
Biomass is a green, sustainable resource consisting mainly of wood and fiber waste. Unlike fossil fuel
combustion, which takes carbon that was underground and puts it in the atmosphere, the use of biomass as
an energy source recycles carbon, so the net effect is that no new carbon dioxide is added to the
atmosphere. The biomass energy project creates a closed loop system where the source of the steam
energy is waste originally identified for landfill disposal as well as waste from the mill’s own production
processes and, as a result, the expectation is to emit zero net direct carbon dioxide at the Whiting Mill.
“We are the leading premium paper company in North America, and with that comes a level of accountability
that we have not only chosen to meet, but to exceed. Our Whiting Mill was an obvious choice for this project
because it represents over half of Neenah’s fine paper production, including the company’s CLASSIC
CREST® and CLASSIC® Linen flagship brands,” said John O’Donnell, President, Fine Paper. “Our
commitment to the environment is based on real internal change such as investing in innovative, energy-
efficient upgrades and manufacturing processes versus simply buying carbon credits. This project supports
that strategy and complements existing initiatives already in place at our other manufacturing sites where we burn
biomass and utilize local hydro, solar and wind power.”
With the project, virtually all of the direct energy produced at the Whiting Mill will be from fossil fuel-free,
renewable sources. The project will reduce Neenah Paper’s carbon footprint by approximately 42,000 tons
annually—the equivalent of taking 8,408 average-sized cars off the road for one full year,* while also reducing
energy costs at the Whiting Mill as a result of shutting down its current gas-fired boilers.
“We fully recognize our responsibility in managing the natural resources that are used in manufacturing our
premium papers, and we will continue to lead the way in our industry in managing those resources in a
sustainable and productive manner,” concludes O’Donnell.
Third party certifications also play an important role in validating Neenah Paper’s Neenah Green initiatives.
Many of Neenah’s heritage and flagship brands are FSC Certified
(SW-COC-000885), Green Seal Certified, and made Carbon Neutral. Neenah Paper is also a member of the
Chicago Climate Exchange, a legally binding system in which participation is a testament to Neenah’s
willingness to be held accountable to ongoing reductions in carbon emissions that are certified by an
unbiased and credible third party.

Neenah Releases Timeless Calendar
Atlanta, GA (June 26, 2008) — Neenah Paper has released its latest paper promotion: the “Timeless (365)
Calendar” featuring ESSEâ, OXFORDâ and UV/ULTRAâ II Translucent Papers. This distinctive promotion
reinforces Neenah’s role as the leader in premium paper colors and textures.
The perpetual calendar is easy and fun to use, plus it invites daily interaction with these three cornerstone
Neenah brands — all exquisite paper lines with wonderful varieties of textures and colors, all with extreme
print performance capabilities. Each time the calendar pages are turned, designers witness new
opportunities to specify the papers for brochures, report covers, posters or identity applications.
The Timeless (365) Calendar exhibits both paper and creativity in the three lines that have long been designer
and printer favorites. The calendar works like a swatch book, allowing users to experience pairings of over
thirty premium colors, textures/finishes and weights in seemingly endless combinations. Every day, thought-
provoking word combinations appear on the reverse side of the calendar to add surprises to the experience.
There are a wide number of visual puns and cognitive devices deployed in the piece that users discover with
use. One example, shared by Steve Sikora, a founding partner at Design Guys, is emblematic: “Days of the
week icons include a cup of coffee, a bicycle, a meal and martini. These are ways people commonly mark
time, with events and appointments such as ‘Hey, let’s discuss that over a cup of coffee!’”
“Functionality is determined by the number of days in the week, months in the year and the number of years
allowed in the calendar [5],” says Sikora. “There were a lot of opportunities to show unique combinations of
weights, colors and finishes across three exceptional brands. The backs of each flip-tab gave us an
opportunity to showcase print performance that we converted into thoughtful and clear messages that
change every time the user changes the date.”
The subtext of the Timeless Calendar is the proof that three cornerstone brands are complimentary and
compatible. The colors and textures in each brand can be mixed and matched, all while working together
beautifully. The trick is to add enough value to the print demonstration that a designer wants to hang on it.
Neenah hopes this Timeless Calendar invites the user to enjoy it for years. But that is not their only wish: they
want the promotion to compel users to specify the featured brands alone, or in combination.
Sikora of Design Guys says, “Yes, its complicated binding but technically the print production values are
relatively straightforward. A successful promotion is a fine balance of papers, inks and processes and
compelling physical presence.”
Adds Tom Wright of Neenah Paper, “We are delighted with the response to this promotion so far. The interest
has been remarkable considering the short time it’s been available. Designers who want to get their own
perpetual calendar should call their Neenah merchant or Neenah sales rep and ask for a sample.”
Let this perpetual calendar be your daily reminder to create arresting results 365 days a year. Hurry, the design
may be timeless — but quantities are not.

Neenah Releases New ESSE, OXFORD and UV/ULTRA II
Swatchbooks
New Look, New Focus for Three Popular Lines
ALPHARETTA, GA (June 19, 2008) — Neenah Paper recently released three new swatchbooks for ESSE,
OXFORD, and UV/ULTRA II & CLEARFOLDâ Papers to continue the series of swatchbook releases that
repackage, refocus and redefine Neenah’s broad offering of Neenah, Fox and Gilbert brands. The three
swatchbooks were created by Design Guys of MPLS.
“We’ve spent the last year introducing new looks and tools to the marketplace,” says Tom Wright, Senior
Director, Advertising and Design at Neenah Paper. “A lot of work and thought has gone into to creating these
materials — and the quality of that effort will show when designers get them in their hands.”
The three lines have long been designer and printer favorites, offering wide varieties of textures and colors
with Green Seal Certification and competitive pricing. Here is a summary of what designers can expect to see
within the three revisions:
ESSE —“To Be” A Paper with Presence
In Latin, ESSE means “to be” — it is one of Neenah’s most designer-requested and, thus, designer-driven
papers. It boasts textures and colors created by renowned Italian designer and colorist Beatrice Santiccioli.
The colors Ms. Santiccioli put together for ESSE Papers were all inspired by her experiences in her native Italy.
At the foundation of the collection are four color families: black, green, brown and blue. Ranging in tonal
values from dark to light; each group boasts a complement of coordinating pearlized colors. A fifth group of
bold accent colors completes the offering.
“Our primary goal in designing this new swatchbook was to strike a balance between the line’s beauty and its
accessibility as a paper for everyday use,” points out Steve Sikora of Design Guys.
OXFORDâ — Woven with Passion
For years the attraction of OXFORD’s writing, text and cover papers has made it a long popular among
printers and corporate identity enthusiasts. With this new swatchbook Neenah turns the heat up in order
to get younger designers to take a fresh look at a very clean paper line.
Neenah defines OXFORD’s brand personality with an exclusive finish that feels to the touch like finely
woven fabric. Its four palettes were developed by renowned design curator Holly Hunt, who gained her
legend with a simplified aesthetic in American interior design. OXFORD’s four palette families — Innocence,
Experience, Desire and Consequence — represent the “totality of the human emotional experience, from light to
dark and all that exists in between.”
“We wanted to emphasize the luxuriousness and sensuality of this line,” explains Kathy Kemps, Senior Brand
Manager for Neenah Paper. “Sure, printers and corporate buyers love it for its versatility and richness — but
those same qualities also give it sex appeal that designers cannot overlook.”
UV/ULTRAâ II & CLEARFOLDâ — The Clear Choice
“What makes a translucent paper superior,” says Kemps, “are three things: printability, foldability and
‘dimensional stability,’ a technical term for curl resistance vital to registration control.” This new group of
translucents offers all three — and it is arguably the best in its class. The lines’ superiority is clearly
demonstrated by Design Guys’ new swatchbook.
“By uniting the long-popular UV/ULTRA II line with CLEARFOLD, Neenah has now two complementary papers,
both manufactured differently and now offering towering strengths in two significant areas: superior printability
and superior fold-ability,” adds Wright. “For many, this is the ultimate one-two punch in translucent paper. They’re
getting superior performance on press and in fulfillment and construction.”
The three-part release has received remarkable attention so far. The demand has been overwhelming,
considering the short time these swatchbooks have been available. Designers who want to get their own
copies should call their Neenah merchant or Neenah sales rep and ask for a sample.

Neenah Paper Expands Digital Portfolio To Include New CLASSIC
CREST and CLASSIC Linen Cut Size Items
Enhancements Follow Successful CORONADO® SST Paper Launch
ALPHARETTA, GA. (February 26, 2008) — Following the successful launch of CORONADO® SST, Neenah
Paper is expanding its digital portfolio to include additional cut-size items in the company’s CLASSIC CREST®
and CLASSIC® Linen brands. These digital offerings will be featured at the Neenah booth at the 2008 ON
DEMAND show on March 4 to 6. The company has also entered the CORONADO® SST Text and Cover
promotion for ‘Best in Show’ award in the Substrates category at ON DEMAND.
The new precision cut sizes of CLASSIC CREST (18x12 Cover) are stocked and ready for immediate shipment.
The new CLASSIC Linen items (12x18 Text and 18x12 Cover) will be available in the second quarter of 2008.
Several items in the digital lineup are certified by the Rochester Institute of Technology for either HP IndigoTM
or Kodak Nexpress, to ensure high print fidelity and runnability.
According to Pam Hill, Brand Manager for Neenah Paper, the incredible versatility of Neenah’s digital papers is
a key differentiator that many customers prefer. The same premium uncoated brands that offer outstanding
performance in traditional offset applications also provide equal performance in today’s digital applications, too.
“Feedback from the marketplace tells us that many print shops appreciate being able to use the same papers in
both the digital and offset platforms,” Hill says. “Instead of stocking an overwhelming number of offerings, print
shops need only to carry the leading Neenah brands. This helps streamline their inventory, provides their
customers with the recognized quality leader and also makes it easier to match up colors, for which Neenah is
well known.”
Helping designers and printers fulfill their sustainability needs, the papers also boast a great environmental profile.
All CLASSIC Linen Papers are designated Carbon Neutral (offsetting 100 percent of the emissions associated
with the manufacturing of these papers), and all CLASSIC CREST® Papers are Carbon Neutral and Green-e
certified (using 100 percent certified renewable energy).

Neenah Paper Makes Major Green Power Purchase
Alpharetta, Ga. (September 20, 2006) - Neenah Paper (NYSE:NP), one of the country's leading premium paper
manufacturers, announced today that it is purchasing over 10 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of renewable energy,
making it one of the largest purchasers of green power in the paper industry. Neenah Paper is also the largest
purchaser of green power in the entire state of Wisconsin, where its mills are located. The purchase is 12
percent of Neenah Paper's total energy purchase for its Wisconsin fine paper manufacturing operations. The
purchase also qualifies Neenah Paper for distinguished membership in EPA's Green Power Partnership, a program
recognizing organizations for exemplary green power purchases. Neenah Paper's energy purchase consists of
environmentally preferable, renewable sources of energy such as wind, solar, low-impact hydro and biomass.
Renewable resources have little to no impact on the environment and produce no net greenhouse gas emissions
in generating electricity. The fast-growing recycled brand, ENVIRONMENTR Papers, and two finishes of the
EAMEST Paper Collection (Painting and Furniture finishes) will be made entirely with renewable energy.
"It is Neenah Paper's great honor to be recognized as a major purchaser of green power in the paper industry
and as the top purchaser of green power in the entire state of Wisconsin, a state that is nationally renowned for
its significant environmental strides," said Bill O'Connor, President, Paper Group. "Our customers appreciate and
support responsible stewardship of our natural resources and this purchase will make a difference that will be
heard throughout the paper industry."
This purchase reinforces Neenah Paper's ongoing commitment to using alternative energies. In January 2006,
the company announced it would purchase 350 million pounds of Green Steam annually to dry paper during
manufacturing and also to heat the mill in Neenah, Wis. This reduces both Neenah Paper's natural gas
consumption and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions into the atmosphere by 80 percent every year. Decreasing
carbon dioxide by this amount is equivalent to planting 250,000 tree seedlings, which naturally remove carbon
dioxide from the air. The steam was declared "green" by the State of Wisconsin because it is derived from a
renewable, organic source: wastewater sludge from paper mills.
Neenah Paper's Green Power Purchase
Neenah Paper is purchasing over 10 million kWh of Green-e certified renewable energy annually from We
Energies' Energy for Tomorrow program. This is one of only nine utility renewable energy programs certified as
Green-e in the country. For the fifth straight year, it has been ranked among the nation's top 10 green energy
programs, according to the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Green-e is the
nation's leading independent certification and verification program for renewable energy products and is managed
by the Center for Resource Solutions, a nonprofit organization working to build a robust renewable energy market
by increasing demand and supply of renewable
resources.
"We are extremely pleased to have Neenah Paper participating in the Energy for Tomorrow program," said Wally
Kunicki, We Energies vice president - Customer Relations. "This not only underscores Neenah Paper's commitment
to using alternative energy solutions, but it is also an example of how businesses can create better opportunities
for others to do the same."
Neenah Paper Now a Member of EPA's Green Power Partnership
Members of the Green Power Partnership pledge to replace a portion of their electricity consumption with green
power. Neenah Paper has exceeded the minimum purchase requirements of the Green Power Partnership,
making the short list of organizations recognized as Green Power Leadership Club members. According to EPA,
the environmental benefit of Neenah Paper's green power purchase is equivalent to reducing the CO2 emissions
associated with the combustion of 1,037,754 gallons of gasoline. This is the equivalent of reducing the emissions
associated with the conventional electricity needed to power 1,170 average American homes for one year.
"EPA applauds Neenah Paper's efforts to protect the environment by purchasing clean, renewable energy for its
Neenah, Wisconsin facilities," said Matt Clouse, program director for EPA's Green Power Partnership. "With this
purchase, Neenah Paper is both demonstrating environmental leadership and helping reduce our nation's
dependence on foreign energy resources."

"The Neenah Paperworks Contest is the longest continuous paper contest in North America," said Tom Wright,
Director of Advertising and Design for the company. "Specifiers are excited to receive a Paperworks award,
and it generates a desire in our customers to consider other opportunities to specify Neenah Paper products.
The contest provides continual opportunities to bring customers together with Neenah representatives to toast
the use of paper as a vital part on the communication process. Since the first Paperworks awards were presented
more than 25 years ago, they have become some of the most coveted honors that paper specifiers can receive."
The contest recognizes graphic designers, paper merchants, printers and end users for the finest examples of
using Neenah’s Writing, Text and Cover papers. Entrants are judged by and compete against their peers.
Neenah Paper awards gold, silver and bronze Letterhead and Text and Cover winners within the Eastern,

Elevate Your Business Identity Using Classic Crest® Papers
Alpharetta, GA. (June 28, 2006) - Fresh, real-world samples in the current Classic Crest® Papers identity
promotion show how a single sheet of this prestigious brand can consistently elevate business identities to a
new level.
Leading graphic designers continually specify these Writing, Text and Cover papers for their identity projects
because of their smooth communicating style, coordinating weights and envelope offerings. They count on
Neenah Paper for dependability and consistency. In fact, colors originally introduced with Classic Crest®
Papers 30 years ago are still available.
"If you design an identity system and two or five years later you need additional envelopes, the colors have to
be available and must match up. That is exactly what CLASSIC CREST® Papers offer and why it is the leading
corporate identity brand. No matter when and where you order, you’ll be able to find it. And, the No. 1 reason
graphic designers specify a brand is because of the availability of matching envelopes and Neenah Paper
has the best envelope support around with unique policy and even square flap envelopes," said Tom Wright,
Director of Advertising and Design for Neenah Paper. "The gradeline has truly proven itself as the leader in
the identity field since its introduction in 1976. It is just a great paper for designers and printers. They love it!
No other paper mill has something like this brand. It’s amazing!"
Identity samples in the promotion show the brand’s superb versatility. For example, the Buck Productions
system is fresh and current with its intentionally thick business cards, which were designed using 130 lb.
Double Thick Cover weight, Super Smooth. Designed using Solar White, the iconic stationery graphics pop
with bold color from border to border.
Leading design firm, Ellen Bruss Design in Denver, created the identity system for the Chotin Asset Management
Corporation. Featuring letterhead, business cards, envelopes and note cards, this system is a model for creating
communications that stand out with the added touch of foil.
By contrast, the system designed for Trump Place is rich and understated. Although the power of the Trump
name can seem overwhelming, Liska & Associates of Chicago successfully softened its commanding presence
using Classic Natural White.
"Classic Crest® Papers go beyond what’s traditionally available from most brands," said Wright. "We’ve made
this paper so it allows you to focus on graphic design. No matter whether you’re entering the design field or
are a seasoned professional of 30 years, you want it."
Classic Crest® Papers are offset guaranteed in Writing, Text and Cover weights and are laser and ink jet
guaranteed in Writing and Text weights.

Neenah Paper Introduces Revised CLASSIC® Linen Papers Swatchbook
ALPHARETTA, GA. (July 13, 2005) Linen finish papers are hip, and the newly revised swatchbook for
CLASSIC® Linen Papers demonstrates why it is today’s go to finish.
"CLASSIC® Linen Papers are fresh and versatile," says Celena L. Evans, Brand Manager for Neenah Paper.
"The texture of the papers gives them amazing printability. Graphic designers are rediscovering this great
characteristic that the brand has to offer, making the paper hot right now, especially in cover weights. And,
printers have always loved the consistency and print fidelity."
The unique embossing process delivers an even-sided linen finish, which is an excellent surface for digital
printing, especially when using metallics. Two digital sizes are available: 12"x18" Text weight and 18"x12"
Cover weight. The papers also have exceptional ink hold out with minimal dot gain. Some of the world’s
leading companies, including those in the fashion, automotive and fine jewelry industries, use CLASSIC®
Linen Papers to market their brands.
There is a remarkable range of accent colors available: 27 colors in total and seven 120 lb. Duplex Covers.
Neenah Paper has also introduced additional 100 lb. heavyweight covers in Epic Black, Ponderosa Pine,
Patriot Blue and Solar White, and 130 lb. Double Thick Covers in Solar White.
Some stunning samples featured in the revised swatchbook include digitally printed designs, a four-color process
with spot metallic, and a CYK process with foil stamping and embossing.

Neenah Paper Offers Tips for Faster, Easier Communications
ROSWELL, Ga. (July 28, 2004) – A key to faster, easier and more cost-efficient design projects is using a paper
grade that works equally well in any type of press — offset or digital. By selecting premium cross-platform papers,
companies can enhance the quality of both offset and digitally printed jobs, and better manage the time and
costs associated with their projects.
“Specifying the same papers for traditional offset printing as well as digital presses can simplify the entire design
process by helping eliminate the time spent sorting through swatchbooks of endless paper choices,” says Gerry
Rector, senior product development manager for Neenah Paper. “Paper selection can be a time and money
consuming process. But now it does not have to be.”
Neenah Paper offers the following five tips for selecting papers:
Papers with the smoothest, most even formation are the easiest to use. Superior formation is probably the best
predictor of which papers will work well in digital presses.
Using highly textured papers for digital applications that follow offset printing may cause the toner not to adhere
well to heavily printed areas. The digital image should print directly onto the paper not onto a printed area.
The weight and thickness of the paper must be appropriate for the equipment specifications. For example, double
thick or duplex papers are not recommended for digital printing.
Special inks that are designed for cross-platform applications should be used. Preprinted forms that have not
been produced using these inks may smear under the heat and pressure of fuser rollers in high speed copying
equipment. Inks designed for cross-platform use are heat resistant and are available from most ink manufacturers.
The subsequent printing steps are important. If the next printing operation is high speed copying, the shell should
minimize the use of metallic inks and foil laminates. Be careful when using high speed copiers to print on paper
that has been engraved, foil stamped, embossed or produced using thermography. These techniques may cause
high speed copiers to jam and generally work best with slower digital equipment. However, normal or “office-sized”
laser printers and copiers work very well with designs produced using these techniques. It is best to allow for
a trial of the product.
The CLASSIC CREST® Brand from Neenah Paper features a collection of high performance papers designed
for offset and digital printing. The Papers are known for their superior formation and a smooth even surface.
Papers such as CLASSIC® Linen, CLASSIC COTTON®, smooth finish in ENVIRONMENT® and the Imaging
Finish in CLASSIC® Laid are laser, ink jet and cross-platform guaranteed.

NEENAH PAPER TOUTS CLASSIC CREST® PAPERS FOR DIGITAL
APPLICATIONS
ROSWELL, Ga. (Sept. 16, 2003) Trusted brands such as CLASSIC CREST® Papers from Neenah Paper are
the ones to use in today’s and tomorrow’s technology. The best choice of papers for digital applications is also
the easiest.
"With Neenah Paper’s state-of-the-art online machine controls and high quality finishing equipment, the digital
revolution requires we make only a small change in our overall paper management plan," said Gerry Rector,
senior product development manager for Neenah Paper. "CLASSIC CREST® Papers allow our customers to
print more quickly and more easily on digital presses, using the papers they already know and trust."
Although CLASSIC CREST® Papers are ideal for use in digital applications, they work equally well in traditional
offset printing. Neenah Paper has enhanced the brand’s resistivity and moisture-optimized it for use in digital
equipment. In addition, Neenah has developed new sizes specifically for digital processes.
CLASSIC CREST® Papers combine all of the characteristics required for the highest quality digital printing,
including the following:
Laser and Ink-Jet Performance Guarantee: CLASSIC CREST® Writing and Text Papers are guaranteed to perform
in laser printers and copiers within the limits outlined by the equipment supplier.
Formation: Superior formation may be the best predictor of which papers will work well in digital presses.
Basis Weight: A wide range of weights is available, including 24 lb. Writing Paper. Double thick or duplex papers
are not recommended for digital printing, due to equipment limitations.
Opacity: A higher opacity paper is generally the best choice, since the amount of ink on the surface can be heavy.
Archival: Alkaline- or acid-free papers are the best choice for most digital applications.
Moisture and Resistivity: Moisture levels and resistivity a measure of electrical charge in the paper affect how the
toner adheres to each sheet. These two important characteristics are tightly controlled at the paper mill.
"From digital applications to laser printers to plate process color presses, CLASSIC CREST® Papers perform," said
Rector. "Neenah papers are made for all the ways you print."
