New HD Ultra Wide Format Scanner Series from Contex
Now Offers 48-bit Color Processing, 8-inch-per-second Scanning;
Comes Standard with 1200 dpi, GB Ethernet
Herndon, VA -- July 4, 2012 -- Contex, the world's leading developer of wide format scanning and imaging solutions, today announces a host of
enhancements to the HD Ultra wide format scanner series. Released less than a year ago to rave reviews, the HD Ultra raises the bar even
higher with unprecedented speed, color accuracy, and imaging processing. The wide format device now scans at an astounding 8 inches per
second in color, or 642 ISO A0 documents per hour -- clocking in at twice the speed of its competitors. New color spaces, with color accuracy
ensured by X-Rite, give users additional options to represent scanned colors. The full 48-bit color image processing feature also delivers
unmatched image reproduction. Watch the HD Ultra in action at www.contex.com/video.
"We are delivering the fastest, most advanced wide format scanners in the market at competitive prices," states Morten Nielsen, Product
Manager, Contex A/S. "The new HD Ultra with Adobe RGB and additional color spaces sets new standards for quality in wide format scanning.
This is a tremendous advantage in productivity for our customers."
New Color Spaces with X-Rite for Color Accuracy
The HD Ultra boasts new color spaces, Adobe RGB and Device RGB. Adobe RGB, the preferred choice of many color professionals, allows for
differences in very bright and saturated colors. Device RGB delivers colors as they are scanned, maintaining all the variations registered by the
scanner. The default sRGB color space transforms the scanned colors into the sRGB standard, resulting in vivid images. Color accuracy with the
HD Ultra is ensured with X-Rite ICC profiles.
Additionally, the new HD Ultra provides unparalleled color reproduction with full 48-bit color processing, unlike the traditional 48-bit capture and 24-
bit processing from other scanners. It also produces both the 24-bit (processed from 48-bit) and the full 48-bit raw image TIFF files. The greater bit-
depth--delivering more than 280 trillion colors versus only millions--gives users unprecedented control over the scanned image.
Pricing and Availability
The new HD Ultra is available in six models. Users can choose color or monochrome models with varying scanning speeds and width. All models
are fully upgradable and come standard with 1200 dpi and GB Ethernet.
The HD Ultra is also available as an MFP, which turns a user's large-format printer into a copier while saving space.
The new HD Ultra begins shipping in July. Pre-orders are available through Contex's distribution channel.

Contex Creates Excitement in Wide Format Scanning with New Solutions
Innovative Technologies Designed in Detail to Meet Users' Needs
Contex A/S is bringing innovation to the wide format scanning market with several new products and updates that feature never-before-seen
technology. Among the new entries is the SD3600 wide format scanner series, which comes with patented CIS scanning technology for
enhanced image quality of scanned technical drawings and maps. Contex also upgraded its Nextimage scanning and image enhancement
software, which now includes first-to-market accounting features and multi-page file functionality.
Image: Contex SD3600 wide format scanner
Creating great excitement in the wide format market is Contex's newest powerhouse, the HD Ultra, a 36- and 42-inch wide format scanner with
CCD technology. In addition to exceptional speed and productivity, this scanner offers superior image quality and versatility. The market has
responded positively to the HD Ultra; the reseller channel, customers, and the company's team of scanning solutions experts have all offered rave
reviews.
HD Ultra Raises the Bar
The HD Ultra is designed for various industries - including reprographics and copy shops, engineering, GIS professionals, architecture and
construction companies, utilities, manufacturing, and government -- that archive and preserve various types of documents, images, and drawings.
The wide format scanner helps these users to work more efficiently and to collaborate better with clients and colleagues.
The HD Ultra offers the most efficient way for users to scan, copy, file, and preserve wide format images, drawings, documents, and records. The
scanner's innovative paper-handling is a first in the large format imaging market. SnapSize, Contex's new automatic size detection software,
registers any standard-size document as it is fed into the scanner, then automatically optimizes the scanner's setup for that particular document.
This feature saves valuable time and ensures a clean, accurate scan.
Image: Contex HD Ultra wide format scanner
Intelligent automatic camera calibration, programmable one-touch buttons, and easy network connectivity are among the features that separate
the HD Ultra from the competition. Other productivity features include the new FlexFeed, right-side document loading that is easier and faster than
center-loading. Additionally, new funnel-shaped feeding simplifies scanning curled originals, and removable paper return guides eliminate the need
for rewinding paper.
"The HD Ultra delivers significant productivity gains, with faster overall scan speeds and fewer re-scans due to misfeeds. Our customers will
appreciate the overall image quality, FlexFeed capability, and scalability of this new scanner," comments Richard Gigl, Vice President of Sales &
Marketing, National / Azon Equipment, a U.S.-based distributor of Contex scanning solutions.
Users will appreciate the time savings provided by new features introduced with the HD Ultra. For example, FlexDoc makes it easy to scan
documents, regardless of the thickness or condition, with both automatic thickness adjustment control and contour correction. A paper pressure
slider allows for scanning both thin newspaper and thick foam boards on the same scanner.
Connecting to a LAN is also easier thanks to the Gigabit Ethernet port and SmartShare, which allows any workgroup computer to control the
scanner. This feature eliminates bottlenecks that typically happen when a scanner is restricted to a single computer.
Enhanced CCD Technology
Contex has always led the market in image quality, and the new HD Ultra continues this tradition. The scanner provides true 1200 dpi optical
resolution and comes with five cameras featuring the latest-generation Toshiba high-resolution four-channel CCD. The new camera design uses
glass-filled polycarbonate to ensure high precision and temperature stability. Both are important factors to keep image quality at optimal levels. All
cameras are electronically precision-aligned and have custom-built Fuji optics, carrying the best quality stamp in the industry. The HD Ultra camera
design also has improved focal distance, which has been reduced by 50% with fewer mirrors. It also includes new high-speed all-digital LVDS
interface. HD Ultra supports full RGB color.
"As more government agencies require documents to be delivered digitally, the new Contex wide format scanners make this transition easy by
delivering a solution at an affordable price, without compromising the specs or features," comments Boy Co, President, American Technologies
Inc., a Phillippine-based distributor of Contex scanning solutions.
Another key innovation for achieving the industry's best image quality is AccuColor. This feature introduces 48-bit data processing for all steps:
from scanner data capture and scanner data processing, through PC data processing. Other scanners typically offer 48-bit only on the scanner
capture, and 24-bit data processing at all other steps. AccuColor delivers improved color fidelity and reduced noise on the scanned images.
Fastest High-End Scanner in Market
Having the industry's fastest scanner means being able to complete more jobs in less time. Capable of delivering a file for immediate use, the HD
Ultra scans 12 inches per second in grayscale and 6 inches per second in color, making it the most productive scanner available. In real-time
performance, the scanner turns out 597 color or 901 mono scans per hour (A1 landscape). This speed is facilitated by the optimized Gigabit
Ethernet technology, which triples data transfer compared to USB 2, delivering a stunning 80MB data transfer per second. No other scanner in
the market transfers more than 100MB of image data from the scanner to the PC in less than 2 seconds.
Energy Star-compliant, the HD Ultra requires less than 4.3W in stand-by and has instant-on scanning with only 2 seconds of wake-up time. Built to
last, it is designed to produce at least 2 million scans. The wide format scanner also comes with instant integration with leading printers and can
be used to output to any office color printer or copier.
"The HD Ultra is the most productive wide format scanner on the market. Users will appreciate its outstanding image quality and flexibility to
integrate the wide format scanner with printers," comments Thomas Rauh, Business Unit Manager, Kisters AG, a Germany-based distributor of
Contex scanning solutions.
Precision Scanning
The HD Ultra comes with ATAC Technology (Automatic Thickness Adjustment Control) for thick, rigid documents. It can scan up to 0.6" (15 mm)-
thick originals, such as posters mounted on foam boards or gator boards. Additionally, the scanner's "All Wheel Drive" (AWD) design for fragile
and old media provides a perfectly straight scanning path with an optimal hold across the whole width of large documents, which prevents image
distortion and damage to fragile originals.
"Nextimage is an important tool for wide format scanning, and the new features enhance users' productivity. Project managers, for example, will
appreciate the time savings with both the new batch scanning capability and the quick button for scanning different types of jobs. Saving multiple
scans to a single PDF file is also a great plus," comments David Cheng, National Manager - Print & Finishing Solutions, GBC Australia, a market
leader in document finishing and business mailing solutions.
Nextimage, the software that drives Contex scanners, allows for easy walk-up usage and touch-screen capabilities that simplify scanning
processes. Recently updated to version 2.0, the software now comes in three editions: Nextimage MFP (ships only with a Contex MFP bundle),
Nextimage Scan+Archive, and Nextimage Repro. New features -- such as multi-page PDF and TIF support, accounting, and programmable one-
touch buttons -- will make users even more productive. For example, settings can be personalized to ensure the same scan, copy, and colors
every time, which is ideal for workgroup scanning with multiple users. Multi-function capabilities -- including scan-to-file, scan-to-print, and scan-to-
net -- let users experience easy and efficient document exchange and distribution.
"The Contex HD Ultra and SD3600 are the best in the market. Their quality is unique. The optical resolution and the sensitivity of the sensor
readings are standouts," comments Harri Laitinen, Managing Director, Planix, a Finland-based provider of professional solutions for planning, data
management and archiving of both 2D and 3D environments.
Professional and Office
Users will find that that the Contex HD Ultra scanning solution is simple to set up, use, and maintain. The scanner is available in two versions:
Professional, for high-volume applications, and Office, which delivers ease-of-use, image quality, and versatility for occasional use or walk-up
scanning. The HD Ultra Professional scanning resolution is 1200x1200 dpi with speeds up to 6 inches per second. The HD Ultra Office delivers
600 dpi and 1 inch scanning per second in color speed. Users can upgrade features within each version.
"The new capabilities of the HD Ultra - higher optical resolution and improved handling of the originals - will make a significant difference to our
customers. The ability to tailor a scanner for customers' needs is a tremendous advantage. Users can select the size and functions for today, and
upgrade it as their needs grow," comments Piotr Obrebski, Direct Sales Director, DKS Poland, a distributor of Contex scanning solutions.
When Imaging Matters
Because data and documents are at the heart of many companies, it is important to have a flexible scanner that can accurately reproduce these
assets for later use. The HD Ultra handles any document type or scanning task. It streamlines the scanning and archiving processes with the
fastest scanner available, while capturing every detail with breakthrough precision and uncompromising image quality.

single workflow," said Phil Magenheim, President, Contex Americas. "Channel partners selling scanners along with EDM/ECM services and
solutions can now provide a common interface and common support for diverse sources of document-based information."
Contex's large format scanners are used to reproduce large format drawings, charts, maps, or other over-sized documents directly into EDM/ECM
workflows. KODAK Capture Pro Software provides users with a single interface to efficiently capture and manage images and critical index data
from small and large format scanners within an office setting. KODAK Service and Support will also be available for users of all Contex XD and SD
Scanners, and for new Contex Scanner installations including the Contex XD2490, SD4450 and SD4490 Scanners.
"This compatibility enables an essential link for streamlining content from diverse sources into a single, unified database," said Brian Bagan,
Director of Business Development, United States and Canada, Document Imaging, Kodak's Business Solutions and Services Group. "This
solution demonstrates the broad capabilities of KODAK Capture Pro Software."
Projects that include both wide format and standard sized documents can pose challenges for enterprise workflows managed by service bureaus
and medium to large sized businesses. E-BizDocs, an electronic document management service provider based in Albany, NY, sources
information from a variety of documents including larger surveyors' records, to letter-sized building code regulation papers. The new compatibility
between Contex Scanners and Capture Pro Software eliminates steps in the process to improve overall user productivity.
"Prior to this solution, the scanning of large format documents was detached and separate from our workflow. The integration between Kodak
and Contex makes it easy to combine documents into a single file, and route them to specific locations," said Howard Gross, President of E-
BizDocs. "Since implementing the technologies, we have vastly improved our workflow efficiency."

Contex Launches Wide Format Scanning Solutions for EDM/ECM Markets
EMC Captiva ISIS Drivers Simplify the Management and Workflow Processing of Small to Oversized Documents
Contex, the world's leading developer of large format scanning and imaging solutions, announces a new wide format scanning solution for the
EDM/ECM market that features EMC® Captiva® ISIS® drivers. With this industry-standard interface, users eliminate workflow processing
bottlenecks in scanning large format drawings, charts, maps, or other over-sized documents directly into EDM or ECM systems such as
Documentum, LaserFiche, and PaperVision. Contex's EDM/ECM large format scanning solutions include the XD and SD series, which scan up to
24- and 44-inches, respectively. These series of scanners directly interface with electronic capture software such as QuickScan Pro and Kodak
Capture Pro for managing large format documents within the same workflow process as letter- or legal-size documents, while achieving high-
quality scans with document-specific presets.
EMC Captiva ISIS (Image and Scanner Interface Specification) is the industry standard enterprise-level interface that unites hardware scanners
with software applications. ISIS is a modular and extensible interface for the acquisition, viewing, data format conversion, printing and storage of
document files and images. Document capture and imaging vendors can leverage this industry standard to bring more competitive applications
and products quickly to market.
"To stay competitive, organizations must be able to capture content from hard copy documents with speed, accuracy, and flexibility. The powerful
Contex scanners coupled with EMC Captiva ISIS drivers are making this all possible," as stated by Daren Gardner, Director, Product Management
at EMC Corporation. "ISIS allows developers to operate scanners at their rated speeds or higher and is the only imaging solution that allows
developers to take full advantage of the power inherent in Contex scanners. The ISIS interface is key to transforming large drawings and oversize
documents into application-ready information for use in business systems. EMC is pleased to partner with Contex and provide certification for this
ISIS driver."
"As public and private industry sectors require digitization of records -- for disaster prevention, green practices, and storage expense reduction -- it
is important to maintain a consistent workflow process regardless of the document size. Contex's EDM/ECM solutions make this possible by
eliminating the challenges of processing documents larger than A3 or B-size in a business process workflow," comments Brian Honeycutt, Product
Manager of Contex A/S. "By bringing a large format scanning solution in-house, users can continue to use the familiar interface when scanning
large formats -- thus keeping the workflow process consistent -- while delivering the right quality the first time."
"A turnkey indexing product is critical to our business. When it comes to scanning large documents, we have always counted on Contex
scanners," states Paul M. Neal, Chief Stewardship Officer of Unity ECM, a provider of content management solutions for municipal governments,
federal agencies and fortune 500 companies. "When testing our Contex SD4490 with Laserfiche ScanConnect software, we found that the
solution made processing large format documents in our workflow an easy and seamless process, which can save time and money for us and our
customers."
Using a large format scanning solution helps companies realize an impressive return on investment typically within a year of deployment. For
example, a document manager who outsources 10 large format documents a week at $10 each per week, and 1 hour of labor at $40, equates to
$140 per week. For an ongoing project that might continue for 52 weeks would result in $7280 per year. The investment in a Contex EDM/ECM
solution with an XD scanner retails for less than $5000, which immediately translates to savings for the company.
Contex is hosting a webinar titled "Document Management for Large Format" that will educate participants about how to incorporate large format
and odd-size documents into an EDM/ECM workflow. The webinar will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2011, from 11-11:30 a.m. EST.
Contex's EDM/ECM solutions are available through authorized resellers.
Contex Wide Format Scanning Solutions Available on Promark Technology's GSA Schedule
Alliance with Promark Makes It Easy for Resellers to Sell Contex Wide Format Scanning Solutions to Government Agencies
Contex, the world's leading developer of wide format scanning and imaging solutions, today announces that its wide format scanning products
and solutions are now available on a General Services Administration (GSA) schedule through distributor Promark Technology. GSA schedules
are a favored purchasing mechanism for federal buyers. Authorized resellers can use Promark's GSA schedule to sell Contex's wide format
scanning solutions to federal, state and local and education customers.
"This is a great opportunity for many resellers," comments Steve Blanken. "Because of the high costs associated with obtaining a GSA schedule,
many resellers choose not to obtain a GSA schedule on their own. These resellers can now take advantage of Promark's GSA schedule to sell
Contex solutions to their government customers."
"Our understanding of the government procurement process attracts both manufacturers and resellers who want to do business with the
government," comments Todd Hartung, VP of Promark Technology. "By adding Contex to our GSA schedule, we are providing the vehicle for
resellers to tap into this market."
Promark, a long standing Contex distributor, has a strong presence in government markets for imaging and data storage products. Promark can
authorize resellers to use its unique GSA Schedule in order to offer industry leading solutions to the government. Resellers simply complete a
government reseller agreement to become an authorized agent on the Promark GSA Schedule. Resellers with existing GSA Schedules can also
work with Promark's GSA Schedule through a Contractor Teaming Agreement (CTA) to offer incremental GSA products from Promark's contract to
its customers.

Contex Announces Innovative Service and Support Program
Contex Innovative Service and Support Program Enables Servicing Dealers and Distributors to Control
Costs and Minimize Risks
Contex, the world-leading developer of wide format scanning and imaging solutions, today announced an
innovative service and support program for servicing dealers and distributors. This Spare Parts Extended
Warranty Program enables service providers to control costs, minimize risk and generate revenue without
increasing the cost of doing business. Contex expects that this program will attract more dealers and
distributors to become servicing partners and that Contex customers will benefit through more timely onsite
repair at competitive prices.
How does the Contex Spare Parts Extended Warranty work? For a one-time fixed price paid in advance, Contex
will replace any part that might fail in a specific scanner for a predefined time period. (Consumables such as
glass, lamps, white background plates, filters and calibration sheets are not included.) With this warranty, the
service provider simply adds his cost of labor and is able to make a more accurate estimate of the costs
associated with service and repair on a particular scanner. This helps keep the end-user customer service
contract prices down by helping the Contex service provider control costs.
Dan Bennett, Director of Service Operations for Contex says, “In developing this program, we considered the
best way to support our servicing partners while also offering our end-user customers top-notch service. By
offering the Spare Parts Extended Warranty Program, we support both our large and small distribution partners
and can expand our service base. Small service partners benefit by knowing that no hidden surprises await
them around the next corner when they decide to get into the service business. Our large service providers
benefit by hedging against future and unknown spare parts price increases. It is a powerful risk management
tool for both large and small service organizations”
In addition to the warranty service plan, the program provides tools, such as an ROI calculator, service plan
template and end-user promotion material along with other materials to help new service providers get started
easily. Any Contex dealer or distributor who is not currently authorized as a servicing partner can become
authorized by participating in technical training.

Completed-Scans-Per-Hour Specification Exemplifies Best-in-Class
Contex, the world's leading wide format scanner manufacturer, announced today the inclusion of a new
standard for measuring the productivity of its' Contex and Vidar award-winning scanners. This new
standard measures productivity by number of completed scans in a specified period of time. While
inches-per-second is still the accepted standard for large format scanners, many scanner users
appreciate a more practical measurement regarding the scanner's productivity. Contex's
completed-scans-per-hour provides a more accurate representation of scanner speed and productivity.
Wide format scanners need to transfer lots of image data to a computer – especially when scanning in
color or high resolution. Contex's no- compromise SD and HD series scanners with xDTR (Extended
Data Transfer Rate) can scan wider documents in higher resolutions without the scanner stopping or
slowing down due to slow data transfer. This raises the overall productivity of the scanner – most visible
when measured in completed-scans-per-hour. When compared to scanners without xDTR, the
productivity gains increase as resolutions go higher and higher. Independent tests, performed by Buyer’s
Lab International (BLI) in UK, confirm that the Contex SD4490 offers a significant speed advantage
without compromising on image quality.
Brian Honeycutt, Product Manager Wide Format Solutions with Contex, says "For years, inches per
second (ips) has been the de-facto measurement for performance in large format scanning. While this
measurement might look good on paper, the real-world speed is much slower. The only relevant way to
compare scanning speed is with a specific document size, over a specific period of time – much like the
wide format printing industry. That's why we're now measuring and documenting the number of D/A1-size
drawings scanned over an hour, so customers can clearly see the productivity they can achieve with a
Contex scanner with xDTR."
Contex continues to list inches-per-second in their specifications as well, so that large format users have
two distinct specifications for easy comparison of Contex scanners to other scanners. The following
Contex series models include the new productivity specifications: SD4400, HD3600, HD4200, HD5400.
Contex Announces Addition of Aperture Card Scanners to Product
Line in Americas
Contex, the world's leading manufacturer of wide format scanners, announced the inclusion of two new
aperture card scanner models to their product line. These scanners are available in the United States,
Canada, Central and South America, the geographic areas that are served by Contex Americas' office out of
Derwood, Maryland.
The Contex AC30 aperture card scanner is the perfect choice for clients with medium scanning volume. The
gentle card transport enables trouble-free scanning with a high quality. The outstanding scanning quality, the
integrated grayscale imaging and the high productivity of 300 cards per hour opens a wide range of applications.
The Contex AC50 aperture card scanner is especially designed for customers with a large scan volume and
high demands on quality. It is the perfect choice for service providers and companies with the need to digitize
big stocks to provide them for fast access in their digital archive. In addition to the high productivity of 600
cards/hour due to the advanced CCD camera, the AC50 provides better quality than any other conventional
aperture card scanner in the market. The outstanding scanning quality and integrated grayscale imaging
enables a high quality standard for the import into an existing data management system, preparation for
editing or vectorization of the images and compliments a variety of wide format printing devices to serve as a
front end to a aperture card blow back system.
The advantages of both the AC30 and the AC50 include:
High quality scans from any kind of aperture card
Better scan results at first scan due to sophisticated image enhancement tools
Storage of all Hollerith files for further processing (database)
The unique LED light source prevents overheating and guarantees an optimal processing even of thermal cards

Contex introduces the CRYSTAL XL 42” Scanner Faster, Wider,
Better—the Next Generation is Here!
Miami Beach, Florida – April 30, 2004 – Contex Scanning Technology, the leader in wide-format color scanners,
announced at its annual Distributor’s conference the CRYSTAL XL 42” Scanner. The CRYSTAL XL 42” wide
format scanner is built on the already successful and established ‘Tx’ Technology, and incorporates the next
generation of state-of-the-art developments for enhanced scanning and copying speeds, high image quality,
fast monochrome scanning and includes the new Automatic Thick Media Adjustment Control (ATAC).
“The CRYSTAL XL 42” scanner delivers maximum B/W scanning speed that can’t be beat and with color image
quality required by professionals to deliver photo-realistic prints that rival the original,” says Thomas Weldingh,
Sales and Marketing Director for Contex European operations.
Integrated in this new release, is the compatibility of the ContexNET architecture. ContexNET architecture allows
for interoperability between all scanners and scanner clients in a local LAN environment and externally through the
internet, all this done by the use of a one-touch button.
The new CRYSTAL XL 42” represents a breakthrough in Scanning Technology from Contex and implements
several of Contex’ new patents, including: variable line resolution and adaptive error diffusion, making it one of
the most technologically versatile and advanced color scanners on the market. The CRYSTAL XL is an ideal
tool for the A/E/C, Mechanical and GIS CAD markets.
Feature Rich, Unmatched Quality and Scanning Speeds that set the Benchmark The CRYSTAL XL 42” raises
the standards in large document scanning by offering superior features such as, full 48 bit digital color capturing,
lightning speed—rated at 10”/sec in Black/White, 0.6”/sec in Color. The CRYSTAL XL is one of the first Large
Format Scanners to utilize a combination FireWire IEEE1394a and USB2.0 interface. The CRYSTAL XL is a
three camera scanner using a new generation of low noise, four-linear 7500 pixel CCD’s and offers an optical
scanning resolution of 508 dpi. “What this means is that we blend the best of both worlds. Instead of mixing the
Red, Green and Blue channel to get Black/White data, we now have a separate linear sensor for the Black/White
channel thus giving correct panchromatic Black/White data at a record setting speed of 10”/sec. Additionally,
the new CCD’s allow for 16-bit graytone, 48-bit color data capture and an optical resolution in excess of 500 dpi.
We also deliver the highest data fidelity in the industry” states Jorgen Rasmussen, Development director for Contex.
The CRYSTAL XL 42” is one of the first in a new generation of Contex color scanners offering Gray ADL+ error
diffusion, halftone, copying algorithm, which allows the error diffusion to be retained at a 16-bit graytone per channel
level as opposed to capturing at 1-bit Black/White level. This new capability adds compatibility to the newer
ink-jet printers that offer 1200 dpi or higher printing resolutions. What is really exciting about the new CRYSTAL XL
is its enhanced speed of 10”/sec and the new Gray Adaptive scanning mode. Instead of applying error diffusion and
sending a 1-bit data stream to the printer at a typical resolution of 300 dpi, we now send 8-bit data at 1200 dpi
resolution to the printer, allowing the printer to retain a much higher print quality of the scanned image as compared
to the 1-bit counterpart” states Henrik Vestermark, Vice President for North & South America.
Easy to Upgrade, Easy to Maintain and Easy to Use!
The CRYSTAL XL 42” comes in two flavors, a base version starting at $13,900 and a plus version, which retails
for $15,900. The base version is upgradeable to the plus version through a SmartCardTM “What differentiates
us among our competitors is our total automation of scanner maintenance. The CRYSTAL XL 42” utilizes Contex’
unique 3–C Scanner Maintenance System for easy calibration of the scanner, a utility program, which performs
automatic alignment, stitching, basic and advanced color calibrations, using a single calibration sheet. The
automated process utilizes motorized cameras to ensure perfect alignment and stitching. It’s now a fully
automated process” states Dan Bennett, Technical Support Manager for Contex.
Another breakthrough for the scanner industry is Contex’ built-in Advanced Power Management System that
ensures an optimal working temperature, and significantly reduces CCD noise. The Advanced Power Management
System allows users to leave the scanner in low-power mode and program it to power up automatically before
they arrive at work, saving money and adding convenience. The CRYSTAL XL 42” is supported on Windows
98, 98SE, ME, 2000 and XP.
