Digital Label Solutions. Digital Label Press Solutions.

By Cassandra Balentine

Part three of three

There are many options for digital label production, including inkjet- to toner-based options. Advancements continue to mount becoming more attractive to more providers.

Parts one and two of this web series looks at specific considerations from a traditional converter perspective and adding labels into an existing digital print portfolio. Here, we look at highlights from several digital label systems on the market.

Allen Datagraph
Allen Datagraph’s flagship press, the SnapPress LP-1, is powered by the HP FI-1000 thermal inkjet engine and designed, built, and supported in NH, U.S. It’s the first of its kind to print both pressure-sensitive labels and water-activated tape on the same device—no reconfiguration, no fuss.

The LP-1 delivers full-color brilliance, instant-dry prints, and unmatched media flexibility—from paper and polypropylene to vinyl and kraft. And every press includes its own built-in RIP, making it truly plug-and-print.

What sets it apart? Automation without complications, including intuitive operation, minimal setup; flexibility; innovative exchangeable print engine means downtime is a thing of the past; and profitability.

Colordyne
Among Colordyne’s offering is the Colordyne 3800 Series Retrofit Colordyne’s 3800 Series inkjet engines are now built on a Mechanical Piezo printhead platform. This shift from Thermal Piezo to Mechanical Piezo enables a fully open-source system architecture, empowering users with more control over ink chemistries, components, and configurations.

The company’s goal is to eliminate the “walled garden” that has long surrounded digital print technology — giving users the freedom to leverage unique ink formulations water based or UV-LED and tailor systems to their exact needs.

Colordyne has also partnered with Fiery, the global leader in digital print workflow solutions, to integrate their advanced Fiery Impress Digital Front End (DFE). This collaboration delivers automation, color management, and data-driven intelligence that perfectly complements our flexible 3800 Series architecture.

Epson
The highly automated SurePress L-6534VW UV press, available with Orange Ink or Digital Varnish, enables reliable and repeatable high-speed printing of up to two million feet square per month. Incorporating PrecisionCore printhead technology, the SurePress L-6534VW offers high-quality ink variations and a fully automated press allows for simple press operations and inkjet nozzle maintenance to keep productivity high and total cost of ownership low.

Standing out from competitors, the SurePress L-6537 VW with Orange ink offers an expanded color gamut, allowing label converters to meet a wide-variety of colors and color match for specific brand colors, as well as high overall productivity including an inline embellishment standard.

Driving the SurePress L-6534VW is the included Wasatch RIP, a fully customizable solution designed to streamline orders, minimize production errors, help increase productivity, and run print production effectively.

When it comes to automation, Pruitt Specifically, a few of the automation features integrated into the Epson SurePress digital label printer line includes auto calibration, nozzle verification technology, and wiping systems.

Konica Minolta
Konica Minolta offers both the AccurioLabel 230 and AccurioLabel 400 digital label presses. Their print quality, ease-of-use, uptime performance and affordability make these presses a great option for adding digital label production to any label environment.

Valloy
The Rollio Xpress is compact type 13-inc roll full color label press in 7.3 meters per minute speed, which can be recommended to customers who has limited budget to buy high end presses.

DUOBLADE NX8 and NX16 are flagship digital cutters using eight and 16 heads for high speed, up to 12~25 m/min. They have servo-driven electric knife-depth control system with faster CCD tracking and embedded PC. Closed-loop automatic depth control boosts throughput and consistency.

DUOBLADE FX is a unique sheet-fed cutter with dual-head for goods production market. It can do full/half-cut, creasing, perforation and pen drawing at the same time to make tags, stickers, toppers, small boxes and etc.
