INDCO, a world leader in industrial mixer technology, manufactures a wide range of impellers for industrial mixing and high-shear dispersion, and provides the engineering assistance to assist customers with selection and sizing. Most mixing applications involve axial flow impellers which produce flow parallel to the axis of the mixer shaft. INDCO impeller designs for both low viscosity and high viscosity liquids are available and include marine style propellers and axial flow turbines, respectively. Processes that require a flow pattern radially outward from the mixing shaft require a radial flow impeller. For applications like fermentation or other sparging applications where gases are introduced into an aggressively agitated vessel, a special type of radial flow impeller called a Rushton Turbine is commonly selected. Marine style impellers work well for free-flowing materials and are available in square (1:1) or steep (1:1.5) blade pitch. While stainless steel is commonly used for standard mixing impellers, economical aluminum varieties are available for applications where chemical resistance is not critical. Polished impellers are available with finishes to 15Ra. Additionally, electropolishing and a variety of surface coating options may be selected for sanitary industry or challenging chemical processes.
Dispersion blades are saw blade-like impellers which convert energy primarily into shear, to impart pigments into paint, break down solids, or create emulsions from liquids of dissimilar densities. They are available in 304 and 316SS and can be coated with Tungsten Carbide for increased wear resistance.
INDCO manufactures impellers for virtually any application and has the engineering staff to guide customers to optimal choices for their specific application. For additional information visit https://www.indco.com/shop/category/impellers.
