Michem Flex R1930 Improves Ink Adhesion and Chemical Resistance in UV Cured Label and Packaging Printing Applications

09.22.2015

Michelman’s new Michem Flex R1930 is an innovative water-based primer that is used as a topcoat in label and packaging printing applications. It improves the adhesion of a wide variety of inks including UV cured inks to printed labels and flexible packaging substrates. Because it is also very chemical resistant, it is an ideal solution for film converters or printers who produce packaging and labels for use in harsh environments. Typical applications include labels for shampoo bottles, liquid detergents and cleaning chemicals.

Michem Flex R1930 is suitable for many printable flexible packaging substrate or label requiring UV curing, and is easily applied using gravure, flexo and other coating methods. The primer is effective at a low coat weight – just 0.5 gsm dry, and dries clear.
