Crawford Technologies, a leading provider of innovative document solutions that streamline, improve and manage customer communications, announces a partnership with Millennium, a digital agency that uses design and technology to improve user experiences by ensuring the integration of accessibility, privacy, security and compliance. Millennium is leveraging Crawford Technologies’ AccessibilityNow® Remediate software to ensure the accessibility of marketing documents for a variety of clients.
Per the Accessible Design Standards set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), all electronic documents must be accessible to people with disabilities, including those who are blind, have low vision or experience certain mobility concerns that can make it challenging to navigate web-based documents. Crawford Technologies’ Remediate addresses this need by automatically tagging PDF components, including read order, paragraphs, heading control, lists, URLs and tables, ensuring their compliance with ADA regulations. In automating the tagging process, the solution increases efficiency and reduces the amount of time and money spent on manual document remediation.
Millennium chose Remediate because it works up to five times faster than comparable products, with completion rates as high as 100%. The solution also offers a near-immediate return on investment of up to $2,400.00 per user per year, compared to the millions of dollars in legal fees that can result from lawsuits over failure to meet accessibility requirements.
“Millennium has 20+ year partnerships with global leaders in their industry. One of the reasons they continue to choose us is the high bar we set for accessible design and development,” said Sarah Coffey, design director, Millennium. “We found the industry standard tools for PDF accessibility to be lacking, both in user experience and in predictability of results. Crawford Technologies’ Remediate software delivers the user experience, predictability and depth of capability that other PDF accessibility tools lack. It helps us be efficient and effective.”
Remediate meets web accessibility requirements in the State of New York, specifically NYS PO8-005, which is a combination of WCAG and Section 508 accessibility requirements. The two organizations attribute the success of their partnership to several factors, including Crawford Technologies’ flexibility in licensing to smaller organizations, the ability to jointly solve the accessibility challenges of Millennium’s most demanding clients and a shared outlook on the importance of accessibility.
To expound on this application of Remediate, Crawford Technologies and Millennium will host a webinar, “Demystifying PDF Accessibility,” on Tuesday, June 27 at 1:00 p.m. ET. Register here.
